WEDNESDAY NIGHT WARFARE

The show started with our Commissioners Dash Riprock & Steve Corino making their way to the ring, in order to give us a confirmed special announcement that the main event of MuscleMania was now set in stone as Kurt Angle Vs Chris Kanyon for the Triple Crown title.  They then introduced Chris Kanyon, who got a resounding ovation from the fans.  He did a nice little speech about his comeback from injury and all that, until it was rather predictably interrupted by Kurt Angle.  He said that he had beaten Matthew Mercy clean at Shoot out and there was no way that Kanyon was going to fare any better at MM.  Angle finished by saying that there were nine weeks left until MuscleMania, and he was going to make sure that they were filled with nothing but hell for Kanyon…As we went backstage we saw Cruiserweight Champion Brian Kendrick, who made a bee-line for the Commissioners and asked who his next victorious title defence was going to be against.  Steve Corino informed him that there was a Three Way Number One Contenders Match scheduled for tonight, and he would fight the winner on next week’s Warfare…Rob Van Dam defeated “The Hollywood Superstar” Mark Jindrak by pinfall in a decent match, following the Five Star Frog Splash…Backstage we saw Gregory Helms and Tajiri, who were seemingly planning to do a number on Rick Shaw later tonight to ensure one of them got the Cruiserweight Title shot…A press conference from the hours after Shoot Out was re-capped at this point, and the speaker was none other than Cheryl Tweedy.  She said that she’d enjoyed the experience, but had no desire to get in the ring again; as we went back to the arena, we saw that Annalise Roberts had been watching this on a monitor.  At this point she was bumped into by Lisa Marie Veron, who said that Tweedy had got what was coming to her and then walked off.  Annalise remarked that someone else might be getting what’s coming to them soon...In a three-way Cruiserweight battle to decide the number one contender to the World Cruiserweight title, Rick Shaw out-lasted Tajiri & Gregory Helms in a fast-paced battle when he pinned Helms.  Brian Kendrick did some colour commentary on this bout, and he was far from impressed by his old mate Rick’s victory.  After the bout, Helms went to say sorry to Tajiri for taking the pinfall loss but Tajiri wasn’t interested in apologies, and he blinded poor Gregory with a blast of the green mist…Backstage roving reporter Jenni B was shown at this point, and she was with Randy Orton.  Randy said that he was going to re-claim what was rightfully his tonight by defeating Diamond Dallas Page for the European Title.  At this point, Rhino (the man who lost the belt at SO) walked past and said that if anyone was the rightful European Champion then it was him.  And he said he might just prove that point tonight…Alias Storm & Haas defeated the pretty makeshift team of Jamie Knoble & Billy Kidman in a fair bout when Haas pinned Knoble…Edge was shown sitting in the canteen backstage when he was approached by a very buoyant Big Gee, who was relishing his victory over the Canadian at SO.  Edge replied that it was a fluke, and then slapped him right in the face saying that they could meet again on Impact and he would get his revenge…In the main event of the evening, Randy Orton defeated Diamond Dallas Page by pinfall to lift the IWF European Title.  He only did it after interference by Rhino though; after the decision, Orton & Rhino (for they are friends after all!) did a number on poor old DDP until Shawn Michaels made the save…
