WEDNESDAY NIGHT WARFARE
The show kicked off with another episode of Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel. And his guest on this occasion? None other than the Triple Crown Champion Kurt Angle. After reminding the host that he had beaten him for the Triple Crown last year, Angle then turned his attention to Kanyon. He said that he had been speaking to Commissioner’s Riprock and Corino, and he had a little proposition for Kanyon for the up-coming NYC ppv and that he wanted his ass out here right now. Jericho butted in at this point and reminded Angle that it was his show, and he chose who was on it. And Kanyon was certainly not welcome. So then, bang on cue, Song 2 kicked in and out walked Kanyon. Jericho told him he wasn’t welcome but Kanyon just grabbed a mic and told him to shut up. He then asked Angle what his proposition was and Angle said it was for a Team Angle Vs Team Kanyon 10 man tag team bout at the PPV, where Angle would pick four of his buddies and Kanyon could pick four of his. Kanyon agreed to the challenge, but was then attacked by Jericho, who knocked him silly with some punches before running off. The on-looking Angle looked very interested in what he had just seen…Brian Kendrick successfully defended his World Cruiserweight Title by defeating his old SLAM buddy Rick Shaw in a blinding encounter. He took the microphone after the bout and reiterated his frequent boast that he was the greatest Cruiserweight in the history of the IWF…Chris Jericho was backstage and he looked very apprehensive indeed, obviously worried that Chris Kanyon would be looking for him. Indeed when Kurt Angle came up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder, he looked as if he was going to have a heart attack. All Angle wanted though was to offer Jericho a spot on Team Angle for the NYC ppv. Jericho said he was flattered but he had other plans for NYC. Angle looked nonplussed that someone would turn him down but at this point, Rhino walked past and Angle went over to him and the two walked off having quite a good chat…Rhino pinned Raven in what was a good “old school” style encounter, which actually worked quite well. After the match Kurt Angle walked out and shook hands with Rhino, so Angle had the first member for his team…Trish Stratus defeated Stacey Keibler in the first elimination bout to decide who would go forward to the four way Women’s Title match at the upcoming NYC Invasion PPV. This was a pretty poor match in all honesty…Rob Van Dam defeated Chavo Guerrero in a reasonable match, following the Five Star Frog Splash…Chris Kanyon was sat in his locker room backstage when there was a knock at the door. It was none other than The Heart-Break Kid Shawn Michaels; Shawn said that he didn’t want to disturb Kanyon but that he had heard that Rhino had been accepted on Team Angle, and if that was the case he wanted to get the chance to kick his ass. Kanyon said that if he wanted a spot on his team, all he had to do was ask. Shawn asked, and Kanyon agreed. Game on…In the main event of the evening, The Big Gee defeated Edge in a reasonable Steel Cage match, via pinfall following the Gee-Spot…
