Warfare 03/05/06

The first Warfare following MuscleMania is always a momentous affair, and this proved to be no different.

Randy Orton celebrated his ascension to the Triple Crown throne but his reign was ever so nearly a short-term one. As a result of winning the MuscleMania battle royale perennial IWF favourite Simon Starshot received one last chance to win the Heavyweight World title. But despite an almighty effort, Starshot couldn't upset the odds, and Orton hit the RKO to retain his World Title.

But Orton's fun didn't end there. Much to his disgust, IWF Commissioner Eric Bischoff announced HUGE plans for the upcoming IWF pay-per-view, to be entitled Super Schiznit Sunday. For the first time ever, the fans of the IWF will be able to vote on match stipulations and, in a unique turn of events, will be able to choose Randy Orton's opponent for the World Title. Bischoff informed the world of the choices; Kurt Angle, Chris Kanyon or Dean Roberts. What's more, the two men who don't win that ballot will have to team up to take on reigning World Tag Team Champions, America's Most Wanted at the show.

In other Warfare matches, European Tag Team Champions MNM carried on from where they left off at MM by defeating Gibson & Danielson in a thrilling match. IWF newcomer Finlay continued his impressive displays by defeating JBL via count-out. Shawn Michaels defeated Matt Morgan by DQ when Morgan went on a wrecking spree. Morgan was livid that he is no longer world Champion, but Eric Bischoff promised a HUGE announcement on Impact which would "create a path" for Morgan to regain the title. Abyss pinned Rob Van Dam in an entertaining "insane" style battle. And in his first singles match since the break up of the Alias team, Lance Storm pinned Matt Hardy, in match watched by Charles Haas. After the match, Haas got into the ring and shook hands with his former tag team partner and wished him all the best.

In other news, Vicky was spotted backstage looking very disconsolate but she was soon cheered up by a chance meeting with Jay Reso. Christy Hemme made her Warfare debut and got into a heated arguement with Women's Champion Alexis Laree. Dean Roberts & Chris Kanyon had an interesting talk as regards the Super Schiznit Sunday main event, and the Big Gee tried, but failed, to get Jackie Gayda to go on a date with him.
