Impact 02/06/06

The road to Heat Wave continued at another high-octane Impact. Just two days removed from Matthew Mercy's acceptance of Dean Roberts' challenge, IWF Commissioner refused to allow either man into the building, but the two held a special "head-to-head" conference. The barbed verbals were flying, with Mercy saying that he was sick of letting Dean ride his coat-tails to success and Dean saying that Mercy was living in cloud-cuckoo land if he thought history would remember him as better than Dean. Both men then ended by saying they would be LIVE on next week's Warfare.

In a double main event, the four men who will meet in the Tag Team title match at Heat Wave collided in singles competition. Chris Kanyon pinned Triple H, but the challengers evened the score in the other bout as Matt Morgan pinned Kurt Angle.

In a thrilling tag team match, Eric Young teamed with fellow Canadian Lance Storm to defeat the team of World Cruiserweight Champion Rick Shaw and his partner for the evening James Gibson when Young pinned Shaw, which could give him a hell of a lot of momentum leading up to Heat Wave.

In another tag team match, Second City Saint Colt Cabana teamed with Charles Haas to take on Shelton Benjamin and one half of MNM, Joey Mercury after Johnny Nitro made his presence felt. Afterwards, Cabana was most upset that his usual partner CM Punk had not bothered to make the save or indeed offer to help in any way.

In a womens match, Krissy Vaine defeated Torrie Wilson when the intereference of The Big Gee accidentally backfired. Torrie was far from happy and left the building without the Gee following her loss.

In the other match of the evening, William Regal and Finaly went to a no-contest with Chris Benoit & Chris Jericho when Regal & Finlay attacked their opponents before the bell had even rung. Such was the ferocity of the attack, Jericho suffered internal injuries and had to be stretchered out of the arena .

In other news from the show, Peter Turner was doing a backstage interview when he was attacked by Shawn Michaels. And Jay Reso and World Champion Randy Orton had an in-ring altercation which ended with Reso laying out Orton with the Unprettier.
