Impact 23/06/06

In the final stop before Heat Wave, the IWF superstars had their last chance to make forceful points before the pay-per-view, and some did with plenty of style.

World Champion Randy Orton used his devilish powers to set up a two-on-one Handicap match where he teamed with Barabus Lashley to take on Jay Reso. Reso however upset the odds by managing to pin Lashley after he hit him with Orton's title belt. Orton was livid, but there is no doubting that Reso has the upper-hand leading into Heat Wave.

CM Punk successfully retained his UK Title by defeating Joey Mercury in a match which was also notable for not only both men's tag team partners being at ringside, but interference by Shelton Benjamin and Charles Haas as well.

Samoa Joe & Finlay had hardly started their bout when William Regal and Chris Benoit got involved and caused the referee to call for a no-contest.

In other action, Burchill brought his campaign to beat Oleg Prudius to Impact, only this week Burchill thought he was a Doctor. Needless to say he was in need of a real Doctor after the match as he sustained another brutal beating. Victoria Koloff pleaded with her father Nikita to stop the carnage, but Nikita told the world he couldn't control the Russian beast!

Dean and Mercy had one last confrontation backstage and even tossed in the "Britney Spears" interview (they've been planning that one for a while). Eric Bischoff gave Peter Turner and Shawn Michaels the night off so they "didn't kill each other before Heat Wave" and Eric Young dawbed Rick Shaw's car in "Canadian" colours...except it wasn't Rick Shaw's car at all, it was Abyss'! Young ran from the building, never to return, when he realised his mistake.

MATCH RESULTS:
CM Punk pinned Joey Mercury
Oleg Prudius defeated Dr. Burchill
