Impact 09/06/06

Heat Wave inches ever closer and the action indeed got as hot as ever on Impact. In a thrilling main event, Matthew Mercy & Dean Roberts squared off on opposite sides of the ring in a special tag team encounter also involving Jay Reso and Randy Orton. In the end it was Reso who won the match for his team when he pinned Randy Orton but the match was just as memorable for the fact that Matthew Mercy seemingly wanted no part of Dean, until a sneak attack. It was honours even for Mercy and Dean, but Reso struck another pyschological blow on Orton in the build up to their title encounter.

In other matches, Triple H and Matt Mogan were challenged by America's Most Wanted, but AMW couldn't overcome the number one contenders to the Tag Team Titles as HHH pinned James Storm.

Elsewhere, Peter Turner pinned Matt Hardy, but was attacked after the decision by Shawn Micheals and was treated to some sweet chin music. Abyss pinned Sean O'Haire following a Black Hole Slam and Lance Storm pinned Charles Haas after the interference of Shelton Benjamin.

Also on the show, Finlay and William Regal were shown waiting to ambush Chris Benoit throughout the show, but it was only as the show was coming to an end that Sam Wyness informed them that Benoit wasn't scheduled to be at the arena tonight.
