Warfare 14/06/06

Less than two weeks away from Heat Wave and momentum was on the mind of all the big players, but some came away happier than others. Eric Bischoff kicked off the show by announcing that Randy Orton, Jay Reso, Chris Kanyon & Kurt Angle, Matt Morgan & Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Peter Turner would all be in action tonight, against opponents drawn at random from "Bischoff's Barrel".

Randy Orton and Jay Reso had contrasting nights. Orton won his match, although not without a tough challenge from his opponent, UK Champion CM Punk. Jay Reso, on colour commentary, said it wasn't his style to interfere, but he lived to regret those words by the end of the show. Reso was drawn to face Barabus Lashley and the two had an almighty battle which was only turned when Orton took advantage of the referee being knocked down to nip-in and hit Reso with an RKO. The pinfall was a mere formality, and after the match Orton and Barabus embraced. Does this newly formed alliance spell even more trouble for Reso leading up to Heat Wave.

Peter Turner and Shawn Michaels also had contrasting nights. Turner was shocked when he learned he was facing old rival Simon Starshot and although he controlled most of the match, he was distracted by Michael's theme music playing just long enough for Starshot to get a shock win with a roll-up. Turner tried to repay the favour when Michaels met Shelton Benjamin later in the show but his interference backfired and Michaels was able to get the win.

The four men in the World Tag Title match at Heat Wave had more straightforward nights. Kanyon & Angle beat Regal and Finlay after Chris Benoit had stopped the battling Brits from using a Steel Chair. After the bout Benoit challenged Regal & Finlay to a tag-match at Heat Wave which Regal and Finlay accepted, although they didn't think Benoit had any friends to team with. Imagine their surprise when a hooded man from the crowd appeared behind them and revealed himself as...SAMOA JOE! In the other match, Matt Morgan and Triple H made easy-work of The Bang Gang.

In other news, George Minister cut a one-on-one interview with Matthew Mercy who said he was looking forward to ending 12 years feuding by finishing off Dean Roberts once and for all at Heat Wave.

The Big Gee and Torrie Wilson had seemingly kissed and made-up, especially after Gee presented Torrie with a big sparkling diamond ring.
